The anniversary has once again shown how divided the Bosnia is two decades after the war, since Bosnians and Serbs remember the events that led to the First World War differently.

The central ceremony marking the 100th anniversary of the Sarajevo assassination in the republic of Serbia is in Višegrad. There, the Andrićgrad will be open for the first time after 3 years of restoration. The Andrićgrad is located not far from the bridge on the Drina, described by Ivo Andrić in his Nobel Prize winning book for literature by the same name.

Separate events will be held in Sarajevo at the same time and will not be attended by Serbian representatives, as the local representatives marked Principe as a terrorist. Serbs in the eastern Sarajevo, which is part of the Serbian republic, yesterday placed a 2meters tall bronze statue of Gavrilo Príncip.

The 100th anniversary of the Sarajevo assassination will also be commemorated at the Austrian castle Arstetten, where the Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie are buried, and at the Czech castle Konopiště, which was the couple's last residence.
