Although Hilda Tovšak, Dusan Črnigoj and Bine Kordež are already serving prison sentences, Ivan Zidar – who was also convicted – will not serve time due to poor health. However, prison director Dušan Valentincic insists no inmates enjoy special privileges. “All inmates are treated the same way,” he says, “regardless of who they are or where they come from. The truth is that the public’s interest in our penal system has increased significantly since the arrival of so-called "respectable" people."

However, some inmates have been granted more favorable terms. Doctor Nada Cesarec, who was sentenced to six months in prison for failure to provide medical assistance, was given the chance of serving a so-called “weekend” term after only two months.
In 2014, more important judicial decisions are expected. By summer, the High Court is expected to decide on an appeal in the Patria case. In the first instance, former Prime Minister Janez Janša was sentenced to two years in prison. And the High Court will almost certainly hear the case of Istrabenz. In the first stage, Boško Šrot and Igor Bavčar were convicted of criminal offenses with regard to the selling of shares in the company.
