The first salt crystals appeared in the crystallisation pools already in the middle of June, and the collecting of salt started for real around June 20. But after June 25 bad weather put a stop to the harvest, Dario Sau, who is in charge of salt harvest in Soline at the Sečovlje salt pans explained.
It is still rather early for a firm estimate, but Sau believes that this year it would be possible to reach an average annual plan, namely between 2.700 and 3.000 tons of salt.
