Matevž Lenarčič had some communication problems after departing from the Fort de France Bay airport in Martinique. Connection with air traffic control authorities Piarco Fir Oceania and San Juan could not be established on any frequency. Because of that the aircraft's position and altitude were reported from Slovenia by Lenarčič's assistant Domen Grauf.
Lenarčič managed to re-establish control with air traffic control once he flew over Puerto Rico. The weather conditions were such as predicted by weatherman Andrej Velkavrh - constantly cloudy and rainy with occasional storms. The weather improved when Matevž Lenarčič was above the Bahamas. He sent a message: "Stormscope is working well and I can look forward to some "New Year-like joy" ahead. It seems the skies are beginning to clear”.
Apart from the communication and weather problems Lenarčič also had problems arranging his U.S. entry documents. After numerous complications and several-hour-long telephone calls, his assistant Grauf finally managed to acquire the customs permit. They were warned though that landing in the U.S. would not be possible after 6 p.m. local time, when the country's customs officers finish work. Lenarčič made a successful landing a little after 5 p.m. local U.S. time.

The next stop on his round-the-world journey will be in New Mexico, where his aircraft engine Dynamic WT-9 will also undergo regular servicing.
