The Zoo reported that they found the "needle in a haystack” at the top of Drenov vrh, put it to sleep and returned it safely back to the zoo. Throughout the month staff from the zoo had chased the lynx, setting traps for it and verifying telephone calls from people who had seen the animal.

Lynx like to sleep in the morning and become totally invisible to the human eye, making it very difficult to catch them. In the afternoon they like to go hunting but will only go to uninhabited areas, where in peace and quiet it can track down and catch deer.

On Saturday a team from the zoo set off for Rožnik, a hill northwest of the capital, a popular hiking, running, and excursion destination for residents of Ljubljana. Around 19.00 the lynx appeared on Drenov vrh. The Head of Veterinary Services Paul Kvapil shot the animal with a sleeping draft. He was very lucky because the lynx came out of the forest to smell his dog Reiko, which was happily running around on the grass!
