In the endgame the judges caused a lot of agitation among the spectators with some controversial decisions. While the judges were being escorted toward the locker room at the end of the game, a loyal fan of the Olimpija team, the well-known Slovenian singer Zoran Predin, standing at the edge of the basketball court, lost his temper and hit one of the judges, Luis Lopes from Portugal, on the head. He was immediately restrained by a security guard and Dino Murić, a player in the Olimpija team. The judges ran to the locker room and the situation quickly calmed down. Olimpija will probably receive a hefty fine for this foolish reaction.

Predin is sorry for the way he reacted
“I only wanted to share my opinion with the judge. When I flapped my arms around the judges, it was fortunate that the security guard restrained me. I calmed out instantly and immediately felt sorry for the way I had reacted. In the heat of the cheering moments, I had thought the injustice was too much to endure,” told Zoran Predin to MMC after the incident. The police issued a penalty notice to Predin on the spot: “I’ll remember this and probably won’t do it again. This is not the way fans should behave. I won’t either.”
After the incident Predin also sent an apology to the Olimpija basketball team and to the media: “I’m deeply ashamed of my unacceptable act after yesterday’s game. Regardless of the fact that I had completely lost control over my action, there’s no excuse for my behaviour. I would like to offer my sincere apologies to everyone affected by this action, especially judge Lopes. I hope I didn’t injure him, as this had not been my intention. I offer sincere apologies to the Olimpija basketball team for having violated their trust, since they allowed me to buy a seasonal ticket for the front row. I apologize to all of the true fans, since I still claim that yesterday’s behaviour was unacceptable, and I still support sportsmanlike and fair cheering. I’ll refrain from visiting the games in the future, since I apparently don’t know how to tame my emotions. I regret setting a bad example for young cheering fans with my behaviour. I hope this kind of behaviour never happens again.”
The Ljubljana-based team had already lost all chances to participate in the semi-finals last Wednesday after its losing to Hapoel in Jerusalem and Banvit’s win at Stožice, which brought the Turkish team 2nd place in the M group that lead in the semi-finals. Olimpija left a good impression at its last game. Despite the struggle against the competitor and the trio of judges, it had remained in the position to be a surprise winner until the end. However, the team lost the game with 83 against 87.
