The Agriculture Ministry estimates that the impact of climate change can be mitigated with proper measures. In the first phase they focused on recommendations to reduce the effects of drought on maize. Namely, with the help of experts a map of areas where the cultivation of maize is not appropriate was made and alternative crops were presented. These recommendations and map are the beginning of measures aimed at adapting agriculture to climate change.

As early as 2008 the Ministry of Agriculture together with the Chamber of Agriculture and Forestry published a brochure with technological recommendations for reducing the impact of drought on agricultural production, and this year have upgraded it with technological measures directed at maize.

Adaptation to climate change by discontinuing maize production has already occurred in the Vipava valley.
