For that purpose a number of interpreters were brought to the Karavanke/Rosenbash entry point. They are making language checks with the purpose of establishing the true origin of individual foreigners and where they actually came from, the Slovenian Police informed.

They explained that the language checks started on Saturday, and on that day the first group of foreigners were denied entry into Austria.

Until this morning 413 foreigners were denied entry into Austria. The only reason was the fact that the Austrian security authorities established that the foreigners had lied about their country of origin, and not the fact that they had come from safe countries, e.g. countries where there was no war. According to the Police, the Austrian security authorities accept also citizens of Morocco, Algeria, Iran and other countries.

Some have already been accepted into Austria
The foreigners who have been rejected are taken to the Aliens Centre in Postojna. After repeating the census in which the contractual translators were participating as well, the Slovenian security authorities have forwarded to colleagues from Austria 91 previously rejected foreigners. According to the Police additional another100 foreigners rejected in the past few days are presently on their way to Austria, after the repeated census procedure.

"It happens that during our procedure at repeated registration foreigners admit their true citizenship, but once they are in front of the Austrian security authority, they try to hide their true origin – in our opinion because they are thinking ahead, of their request for international protection," was also written. The Police explained that at the census of foreigners with the intention of establishing their identity and their origin, the evidence gathered at the inspection, the received notices, and the aid of the interpreter are being used. The interpreters are able to establish the territory a foreigner is coming from by the language he/she speaks (e.g. the Algerian Arabic language differs very much from the Syrian Arabic language).
