Migrations are a common European challenge rather than an issue between Slovenia and Austria, Cerar said about Austria’s decision to build a fence on the Austrian side of the Šentilj/Spielfeld border crossing. “We need to solve this problem together, otherwise fences won’t help us either,” he added.
He stressed that Slovenia is a member of the Schengen zone and a responsible member of the EU. He assured everyone that Slovenia will not allow the EU to reach any agreements without consulting Slovenia first. “We need to come to a common agreement,” Cerar stressed.
