Local people have bought the land the church stands on. After the parish priest had passed away, the Archdiocese of Maribor decided to repay the construction company SCT with a piece of land close to the church. However the archdiocese and SCT have never signed a contract on the issue, because the creditor bank took the land, after the archdiocese had run into serious financial problems.
The facility is estimated at EUR 1.676 million. The debt to the bankrupt construction company stands at EUR 665,000. SCT has submitted a request for the court to sell the property.
