The negotiators of Miro Cerar’s party and four parties that are still in talks with Cerar’s party, have these days been exchanging their written opinions on the draft of the coalition agreement and are to again sit down at the negotiating table. Negotiations were in a bit of a standstill this week because Karl Erjavec first accepted and then rejected the candidacy for President of the National Assembly. The largest party therefore needed to find a candidate themselves. With this move, Karl Erjavec caused quite a bit of problems for Miro Cerar.

Erjavec yesterday made a new request. Besides the Senior Citizens Reimbursement and coordination of pensions at a 2-percent economic growth, Erjavec said, that the Pensioner’s party will, with a possible entry into the coalition, also demand the post of President of the National Assembly and three ministerial posts. It seems that Desus’s plans, at least concerning chairing the National Assembly, might not go as they expect them to.

Miro Cerar is next week therefore in for a new round of talks with representatives of the parties DeSUS, the Social Democrats (SD), the Zavezništvo Alenke Bratušek (ZaAB) and New Slovenia (NSi). It seems that Social Democrats are displaying the most interest concerning entering into a coalition.

The president of the state, Borut Pahor, must now, within thirty days after the inaugural session of the National Assembly and consultations with leaders of parliamentary groups, submit a proposal for the appointment of a formateur.
