The report complies with the previous one, published in the beginning of 2013. That report was annulled by the Supreme Court in February of this year, as CPC failed to send the draft to Janša during the procedure, and thus allow him to give his statement. The current senate led by Boris Štefanec took a different approach, but Janša choose not exercise his right.
The supervision of the financial conditions of the president of the SDS Party covers the period during which he had acted as prime minister, and a member of parliament. CPC established that Janša had used the assets not arising from his officially known income for financing the purchase of real estate, for the running costs arising from the real estate, for the purchase of a vehicle of a higher price range, for the insurance and servicing costs for the vehicle, for the cost of court procedures, for private voyages, etc.
As stated by CPC, the increase of the assets can be partially attributed to distinct corruption risks in connection with operation of companies owned by one of Janša's family members.
Although Janša, the leader of the largest opposition party, gave no comment to these findings during the procedure, he now claims that "the right for making a declaration does not mean that I am now entitled to answer to the wrong, erroneous, false, and illicit findings of the CPC, but above all that I have the possibility to get acquainted with the facts and proofs the commission used during the procedure, and at that time give my statements."
He is convinced that the commission is "simply ignoring the supporting documents submitted to the authorities, and which are in my possession".
