President Borut Pahor signed a decree today calling for elections for Members of the European Parliament.

The elections will be held on 25 May this year. The president also said that the election activities will start on 24 February. EU officials have already decided that Member States have to hold the election of members to the European Parliament between 22 and 25 May.

Preparations for the elections have already begun – the parties are already making a list of candidates. The elections to the European Parliament will be held for the third time in Slovenia. Voters will choose eight MPs. They will represent Slovenia in the European Parliament for the next five years.
