According to ARSO, temperatures will remain well below zero degrees Celsius in the following days, except in the coastal region. Temperatures are set to fall to between -10 and -15 degrees from Tuesday to Thursday.

Low temperatures have also wreaked havoc on many roads in Slovenia. Snow ploughs are keeping the roads passable, and the Slovenian Traffic Information Centre has advised drivers to keep a safe distance behind working snow ploughs. In NW Slovenia, gusty winds are causing snow drifts.

Due to wintry conditions, special restrictions are in place. Trailers and semi-trailers are prohibited from driving on the road Črni Vrh-Col-Ajdovščina as well as on the Croatian side of the border crossings Babno Polje and Petrina.

The road over the Vršič mountain pass, and the roads Lokve-Čepovan and Lokve-Predmeja remain closed. According to the Slovenian Traffic Information Centre, the road over the Ljubelj mountain pass (Loiblpass) is only open for vehicles equipped with winter tyres or carrying chains.
