Erjavec stressed that he is positive about the maritime border dispute between Slovenia and Croatia. He said the border arbitration procedure was largely over. He expects the Tribunal to hand down its decision in mid-2015.

Erjavec explained that relations with Russia would be a challenge for Slovenia and Europe alike. He said that Russia remains a strategic partner, adding that the Slovenia-Russia commission for economic cooperation would hold a meeting next week.

He pointed out that Slovenia would also focus on the Western Balkans in the future, and support the countries in their bid to join the EU.

Erjavec moreover said that he is certain Slovenia will recognize Palestine "sooner or later". However, due to the fact that Slovenia is a member of the EU, he is in favour of a concerted effort to recognize Palestine rather than "going solo".
