The European commission published the first EU anti-corruption report today. The commission finds that corruption remains a great challenge for the entire Europe, affecting all member states and causing around EUR 120m of damage to the economy.

According to the report, the political will for fighting corruption in Slovenia is getting weaker. The commission’s report reads, that recent years appear to have seen a decline in the political drive against corruption, amidst allegations and doubts about the integrity of high-level officials.
The commission called for greater attention in dealing with corruption, as the type and level of corruption varies in all member states.
Slovenia has been among the most active of the Central and Eastern European states in the fight against corruption, with a well-developed legal and institutional anti-corruption framework.
