4th place at Saturday’s slalom has put Maze back to the lead, with 18 points ahead of the Austrian skier.

The last slalom of the season, taking place at Meribel (FRA), went to US skier Mikaela Shiffrin. This is her fourth successive win in slalom and nothing but a final confirmation of her third straight season title in the slalom – a feat last achieved by Vreni Schneider in the 1990s! Sweden’s Frida Hansdotter, the leading skier after the first run, ended up taking second place, followed by Veronika Velez Zuzulova from Slovakia.

Tina Maze, Slovenia’s best skier, missed the podium by 7 seconds but what matters is her return to the lead in the overall standings. Anna Fenninger, Maze’s rival for the big globe, took 23rd place, winning no points since only top 15 skiers are awarded points in the season finals.
