As a child, he visited 30 countries – some of them on multiple occasions. He played football and fell in love with climbing. While his family was vacationing in Mexico, he summited Pico de Orizaba on his own.

He has now taken up a new challenge. At the age of 19, he set out on a mission to cycle through 5 continents (Europe, Africa, North America, Australia and New Zealand, and Asia). It will take him more than 200 days to cycle round the world. He will cycle 29,000 km and pass through 25 countries. He started his journey 125 days ago in Debrecen (Hungary), and reached the town of Szolnok in 12 hours and 30 minutes. According to a journal entry he posted on his website, Tomazhumarbike.com, he was offered accommodation by a local man. Humar has organized every detail of his solo road trip on his own.

"First and foremost, it's a huge personal challenge. It suits my personality. My answer might sound a little strange. Just like my parents, I want to be a role model for my children, taking action instead of waiting for opportunities to present themselves. Good things usually don't come to those who wait," Humar told RTV Slovenia journalist Saša Krajnc. The thing he misses the most on his trip is talking to his friends – and doing the dishes. He said that after he returns, he would try to find himself a girlfriend.
