The "Under the Free Sun" ceremony was organized by ZZB NOB and the Ljubljana municipality, and was also attended by the current President of Slovenia Borut Pahor as well as the President of the National Assembly Milan Brglez.

The honourable speaker was one of the former presidents of Slovenia, Milan Kučan: "The love of freedom cannot be quelled. It’s impossible to subdue a nation that knows its fight is just. The Slovenians are a proof of this. The decision for armed resistance persuasively rejected the fate of the small and the powerlessness of the Slovenian nation. A pluralist liberationist national organization within Hitler’s Europe as early as 1941 was a very and mature political response. The resistance was an act that could be described as historic, politically far-sighted and state-forming. It permanently placed us among the nations that had created the foundations of the modern world through their wartime decisions," said Slovenia’s former president.
