Police have so far given little information on the issue, but it seems to be clear that the suspects have tried to sell worthless shares to the Slovenian energy company. Five people have been detained and twelve house searches are still ongoing.

The investigators are primarily looking into the dealings of two companies from Ljubljana and Šempeter pri Gorici.

Director of the National Bureau of Investigation Darko Majhenič said that three new suspects were being investigated. They supposedly tried to resell some shares of a company from Velenje for a much higher price than they were actually worth. This dealing would have enabled a Luxembourg company to earn at least EUR 8 million.

Two of the detained are said to be the holding's supervisor Marko Zidanšek and businessman Bogdan Pušnik.
