The Vienna days in Ljubljana ended in fine style at the Stritarjeva street, which has already become the traditional culinary stage where all kinds of culinary records have been set. There the visitors impatiently waited for their slice of the record cake, as in Ljubljana the largest original Sacher cake ever made in the world was baked, weighing 600 kilograms and with the diameter of 3.5 metres.

The first slice was ceremonially cut by the Vienna city minister Renata Brauner and the mayor of Ljubljana Zoran Janković. Afterwards the cake was offered, free of charge, to »coincidental« passers-by. The programme host Peter Poles joked that a real battle was fought among them, causing security guards more troubles than they usually face at rock concerts. He placated the visitors with the assurance that everybody would get his or her piece, as the mega-cake would be cut into 10,000 slices.

2,000 eggs, 50 kg of butter, 80 kg of jam
The cake of the record size made by pastry chefs was made of 2,000 eggs, 50 kilograms of flour and butter, 40 kilograms of sugar and caster sugar, 45 kilograms of different types of chocolate, approximately 80 kilograms of apricot jam, and 200 kilograms of icing. And as the original Sacher cake is served with whipped cream, 300 litres of cream were needed.
