"We like simple designs, to which we add character through different patterns," say Ajda and Matej. Foto: Bor Miška

We don’t restore items, as our pieces of furniture are not that old. We do redesign projects, furniture renovation,” say the young artists, admitting that their work, which goes by the name of Mellow Moose Station, is special due to the fact that they are neither architects nor designers. Their first pieces of furniture came from family members who were renovating their apartments or had small pieces of furniture in their attics or basements. “But now there are a number of people who already know about us. Every now and then we get emails with photos of furniture attached, saying: If you are interested, contact me.”

According to the 25-year-old artists, “it’s a pity to see completely still-functional furniture thrown into dumpsters.” At the moment they renovate mostly smaller pieces of furniture (small cabinets, chairs and tables). Renovating a small cabinet takes 8 to 15 hours. Even though their renovation business is only around one year old, their work has been well accepted. Among other things they made it to the finals of the POPRI business competition organized by the Primorska Technology Park. If not elsewhere, you’ll certainly be able to catch Ajda and Matej at one of the summer vintage fairs.
