New Slovenia party (NSI) has begun collecting signatures for the interpellation against Virant. According to NSI party chairwoman Ljudmila Novak „NSI is filing an interpellation against Gregor Virant due to his rash and reckless actions."

According to NSI with the proposal to reduce the number of municipalities Gregor Virant undermined the system of local self-government and constitutional rights of citizens, who decided on the establishment of their own municipalities on a referendum.
