With coalition talks on the horizon there is still the question of how many ministries the new government will have.

Janez Janša's first government between 2004 and 2008 functioned with 17 ministries. Borut Pahor's government maintained all 17 ministries but Janša's next government drastically reduced the number of ministers to 11, in order to cut costs and save money.

The last cabinet of Alenke Bratušek functioned, and is still functioning, with 12 ministries. It re-introduced the Ministry of Culture, which was droppped by the previous government.

The PM-designate Miro Cerar has hinted that he might re-introduce a seperate Ministry for Environment and Spatial Planning, as environmental issues now fall under the Ministry of Agriculture.
