Officials say they will remain closed until further notice. Many mountain and forest paths are obstructed and closed off due to fallen trees. Officials warn that visiting such areas can be life threatening and advise against hiking in the mountains. On higher altitudes there is also a danger of avalanches.

The heavy snow and sleet have caused damage to around 40 % of Slovenia's trees.
