By the summer packets of the food will run out. Therefore, the Red Cross, among other things, is planning a two-day campaign to collect food in shopping centres.

In the first months of this year, the Nova Gorica Red Cross organisation helped more than 870 people, which is almost the same number helped during the whole of 2013. In the warehouse are stocks of food that will last only until the summer, so they are desperately contemplating what to do next. They will try to fill the reserves with purchases from its own resources and during Red Cross Week carry out a two-day campaign to collect food at shopping centres in Nova Gorica. The plight is not only food, all the more families are on the verge of eviction due to unpaid bills and they are already without electricity and water.

The Nova Gorica Red Cross organisation has to pay 12.000 Euros per year rent for an industrial building, which is used as a warehouse and a place for food and clothing distribution. This represents a huge amount of money which could be used to help pay the rents of those in difficulty. That is why the Red Cross is pleased that the city councillors have now got their hands on the plans for a new Humanitarian Centre.
