He hopes that their cooperation at solving the remaining unanswered questions regarding the relationship between Slovenia and Croatia will be exemplary.
After the solemn oath of his Croatian colleague Kolinda Grabar Kitarović the Slovenian President explained to the Slovenian media representatives that the most important point of her inauguration speech For Slovenia was the fact that she had stressed the importance of good relationship with the neighbours.
"It is important that she stressed the joint efforts for the peace and safety in the region. To that effect I intend to suggest to her we should resume the Brdo initiative," he said after the lunch party Grabar Kitarović prepared for the leaders of foreign delegations. After speaking to journalists, Pahor also held a short courtesy conversation with Grabar Kitarović.
"No unresolved question remaining between Slovenia and Croatia is such as to take us back into bad times. My optimism regarding the future cooperation between our states and nations is justified," Pahor said.
In reference to solving the dispute regarding Ljubljanska banka, for which Grabar Kitarović had announced a proposal for solution would be prepared within a few months, the President of the Republic believes that it is of utmost importance that the states are willing to solve the dispute in a peaceful manner, without rousing emotions, and avoiding establishing an atmosphere which would make it impossible to politics and to arbitrators to find the right, and righteous solutions. "Slovenia has the political will and vision, for which we need partners. I hope Grabar Kitarović will prove such a partner," Pahor added.
