Last year the defense minister took 22 trips. The minister defended himself by saying that it wasn’t the number of trips that were important, but rather what the minister was accomplishing. The minister’s travel costs were recently listed as more than 90,000 euros, when including delegations. Critics wonder whether this is acceptable in times of crisis. Members of parliament are waiting for more concrete data. However, the former defense minister, racked up 56 trips abroad, for a total of over 272 thousand euros.
