Thus the obligation was fulfilled, and the obstacles removed, allowing the Court of Arbitration to continue its work, explained Miro Cerar at the press conference. He expects the Court of Arbitration to remain independent and impartial, and to complete its task and give a final decision.

The affair swept away the arbitrator
The president of the government in his statement for the press reminded that the Slovenian arbitrator Jernej Sekolec resigned a week ago, after which the Court of Arbitration informed Slovenia that a new arbitrator should be appointed within 15 days.

The French academic Ronny Abraham was born in 1951 in Alexandria, Egypt. In 1974 he graduated from the University of Paris in Public Law. He has been a member of the United Nations International Court of Justice since 2005, and its President since this February. In the past he was a representative for France in many cases before international and European courts.

Sancin: topmost, and interesting choice
The decision the government made by appointing Ronny Abrahama as the Slovenian member of the Court of Arbitration met with positive, partly undecided responses. The assistant professor Vasilka Sancin from the Faculty of Law, Department of International law, gave a very short comment for MMC: "It is a topmost, and interesting choice." When asked whether the reputation of Abraham as our arbitrator means that Slovenia's arguments are so strong to guarantee success, she replied that the two things are not connected.

The former president of the republic Danilo Türk also expressed his satisfaction with the appointment of Abraham as the arbitrator. He congratulated to the Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign affairs Karel Erjavec, and the government and the parties for the wise and prompt decision.

The NSi party supports the decision of the government, while SDS Party's only comment was that the government had decided to appoint the new arbitrator by itself, while his predecessor was appointed by the National Assembly, and that they hope that it was the right decision.

ZaAB party had a similar reaction: "The responsibility for the decision lies with the PM, Ministers, and coalition." They are not opposed to the decision. Also the United List (ZL) deputy Matej T. Vatovec says they are not opposed to the decision, and believe it is the duty of the government. According to him that at the meeting with Cerar they only learned "that they had a name, and that it was a respected international legal expert, and the right choice".
