The unionists stress that austerity policies in education are misguided. They are also dissatisfied with the debate on the supplementary budget, as education bears a too big of a burden to cover the shortfall with universities and their research activity also cut.

The education minister meanwhile said that austerity measures, which entered into force on 1 January, were only temporary. She said all now depends on the supplementary budget for 2015. When the talks on the budget end, it will be known whether the education sector will lose 10 million euros or more.
