Ninety scouts weathered the storm in the Šentilj pri Velenju Fire Station, while 102 found shelter in the Vinska Gora Fire Station.

"No one was injured and there was no damage, beside some wet clothing. Just in case, some of the scouts who were in the camp spent the storm in the firehouse," explained Urban Lečnik Spajić of the Slovenian Scouting Association. All the scouts have returned to their previously scheduled activities.

About a thousand scouts are taking part in the jamboree. Lečnik Spajić reassures parents that the scouts are all fine. "In some cases, they found shelter under a hayloft or a garage. Firefighters told these campers that they could seek shelter in their firehouse," he added.

The organizers of the jamboree are keeping a constant eye on weather conditions. "When a thunderstorm approaches, we check where it's coming from, we zip up the tents and we add pegs so they're not blown over by the wind. We're used to the rain; that's when we organize games and play the guitar," Lečnik Spajić explained.
