The tradition originates from the U. S., where the day is celebrated since 1910. It reached Europe after World War I., but countries observe it on different days. After World War II. Mother’s Day was set aside due to the 8 March celebration of Woman’s Day. Now it’s becoming popular again and Slovenia has been marking it since 1991.
