In the 2015/2016 academic year there are a total of 19.103 available vacancies for studying at the universities in Ljubljana, Maribor, at the University of Primorska and in Nova Gorica, as well as at other public and independent higher education institutions.

What is significant for the new academic year is that this year universities have offered less admission places than last year - higher education institutions have offered 1.058 less admission places compared to the previous year.

Some universities face an excess of students
As every year certain study programs are already completely full. The Ljubljana Academy for Radio, Film and Television (AGRFT) has recorded the biggest surplus of applicants. The Academy of Fine Arts is in a similar situation. Both academies accept a limited number of students, have strict entry criteria and admission exams. The Ljubljana Faculty of Sports and the Faculty of Medicine have also recorded an excess of applications.

The highest number of applications at the University of Maribor has been recorded at the faculties of security sciences, arts, health and medicine.

At the Universtiy of Primorska the most popular study program is the one for pre-school teacher training at the Faculty of Education. It is followed by the program in Dietetics at the Faculty of Health Sciences, and the Biopsychology study program at the Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Information Technologies.
