Curator Lara Plavčak writes that Praznik recontextualizes the images of mass media and transforms them into new complete wholes. Viral images are blurred into a simple search for motifs, whereas the camouflage of recycling is perfected in the artist’s layering of mastered painting techniques and his explorations of socially significant topics.
The exhibition is comprised of a number of smaller canvasses with premeditated compositions, which range from muffled colours to colourful exuberant gradients. They include both classical painting techniques, which the artist complements with collated graphite drawings, and printed computer images which define the canvas in its material dimension.
Praznik studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana. He is the recipient of a prize for special artistic achievements. In recent years he has been exhibiting his work at home and abroad. In addition he is a full-time illustrator at the Tribuna magazine and also draws for other publications.

The exhibition will be on display at the Kamera gallery at Kino Šiška until the 1st of February.
