In the 2016-2017 academic year, international students represent 40 percent of the University of Nova Gorica's student body. "At present, a third of students enrolled in first-level courses, almost a half of students enrolled in second-level courses, and 57 percent of students enrolled in third-level courses are from abroad. They come from 42 different countries – from Europe and other continents. The University of Nova Gorica is also becoming an attractive environment for foreign scientists and professors; the number of experts from other countries employed by the university is constantly growing and it now amounts to almost a third of all employees," says Andreja Leban, the University of Nova Gorica's press representative.

Greatest interest for the School of Engineering and Management
In this school year, the interest of prospective students from abroad has increased primarily for studies at the School of Engineering and Management. This year's cohort of freshmen at this school comes from ten countries. Among them, a group of students from Nepal is the most numerous. Over the last week, 27 arrived in Nova Gorica; 25 of them are enrolled in part-time first-level studies of Engineering and Management and two in part-time second-level studies of Engineering and Management

"Their first impressions are excellent. They are very grateful for the kindness and the support that they received while integrating into the new environment, both at the university and in the dorms. They get help from student volunteers from the University of Nova Gorica, who have shared useful information with them and have taught them their first words of the Slovenian language," says Leban about the impressions of the Nepalese students.
