A mass was said by Celje Bishop Stanislav Lipovšek. He expressed gratitude that Slovenia has started taking better care of long-ignored post-war killing sites and graves and underlined the need for reconciliation in order for Slovenia to build a safe future.

In 2004, a memorial park was inaugurated at the site of the former Teharje barracks, a facility used by the Nazi Germany military during the Second World War.
