A ceremony took place today to mark the 76th anniversary of the liberation of the Loibl Sud concentration camp near the Ljubelj pass. The camp was a branch of the Mauthausen camp and was the only concentration camp in Slovenia during World War II.

One of the speakers at today's ceremony was Dr.Dragan Petrovec. He talked about the horrors of war and warned against history repeating itself, especially with some politicians speading hate speech or turning a blind eye to it.

He also talked about the suffering of those who were imprisoned in the camp, many of whom died.

Nearly 2000 internees were kept in harsh conditions at the camp for nearly two years and used as forced labour to build the Ljubelj pass.
