A “Friendship hike” will mark the 10^th anniversary of Slovenia joining the Schengen convention today. The annual nightly hike with torches is organized in the western Slovenian town Miren at the Slovenian-Italian border, by the local cultural society and the community Miren with the help of neighboring Italian villages. The president of the cultural society Sonja Cijan said that the fall of the border meant a lot for the people of Miren, as the border went right through their town and even local cemetery. The hike is around 4km long and is suitable for everyone.
