The restrictions are aimed at stopping a fourth wave of the pandemic.

All workers and the self-employed have to be vaccinated, have proof of recovery no more than 180 days old, or test at least once a week. PCR tests, rapid tests and self-testing are all allowed.

For workers, the cost of testing will be covered by employers.

Only smaller grocery shops and pharmacies continue to be open for those without a Covid pass. Children up to 12, who cannot be vaccinated yet, are exempted from the rule.
Many businesses have complained that it will be impossible to comply because of a shortage of staff or other reasons.

Some have taken to social media to announce outright boycotts of the restrictions.
