The number of global deaths from AIDS has gone down by 50 percent since 2005—but there are still more than 36 million people in the world living with AIDS, and only half of those receive appropriate treatment. Under the slogan 'everybody counts,' the WHO is advocating access to safe, effective, quality and affordable medicines.

Meanwhile in Slovenia the number of people with AIDS is also falling. In 2017 there have so far been 33 new cases of infections with the HIV virus.
