1,400 competitors will have 8.5 hours to complete a 1.9 km swim, 90 km bike ride and a run of 21.1. km

Most of the competitors come from abroad, only 300 are from Slovenia.

Next to individual runners, also 90 relay teams will join the race.

According to Ironman rules this year will feature only non-professional runners – so called age groupers.

The organisers are hoping that the event in Koper will become a performance test for those athletes who will compete in the most demanding Ironman event – the world championship in Kona, on Hawaii, which is held in mid-October.
