The 29-year-old was only 1.82 seconds behind the winner, Olympic champion Lisa Carrington from New Zealand in today’s flatwater 500-metre sprint event. Teresa Portela from Portugal was third. This is Osterman’s first individual medal at a top-level race. Tomorrow Osterman will also compete in the 200-metre event after clocking the best time in her semi-final group.
