World No.1 cyclist Tadej Pogačar won the 5th and final stage of the Tour of Slovenia in a sprint finish, and with it the overall title.

He beat fellow Slovenian Matej Mohorič in a sprint finish. Pogačar's teammate Rafal Majka of Poland was 3rd today.

Another Slovenian, Luka Mezgec, won the bunch sprint ahead of the main peloton to take 4th place on the almost 156 km-long stage from Vrhnika to Novo mesto.

Pogačar also won last year's edition of the Tour of Slovenia and was the strong favourite to win the race this time round.

Majka finished 2nd in the overall standings.

Domen Novak came 3rd overall. That's despite suffering a heavy crash on the run-in to the line this afternoon.

It's the perfect warm-up for Pogačar in his attempt to win a 3rd Tour de France in a row.

Le Tour starts in Copenhagen on the 1st of July.
