Slovenia and Belarus will face off today in the UN for a non-permanent seat in the UN Security Council. The two countries are vying for the seat reserved for the Eastern European Group. To win the vote a country will need to win the support of two-thirds of the countries voting.
Slovenia's FM Tanja Fajon said she was optimistic ahead of the vote, adding that winning the seat would benefit Slovenia both politically and economically.
The vote will take place at 4pm Slovenian time.
