The Culture Ministers of Slovenia and Italy met in Nova Gorica today to discuss the European Capital of Culture 2025 project. Slovenia's Nova Gorica and Italy's Gorizia will be the joint host cities of the project.
Culture Ministers Asta Vrečko and Gennaro Sanguiliano underlined the importance of the cross-border project, which aims to set up a borderless area in the joint Europe Square, setting an example for other neighbour towns in Europe. Minister Vrečko called it a transnational project bringing together two towns, regions and countries.
Slovenia said it would set aside 10 million euros for the European Capital of Culture in 2025.
