As Roman Catholics and many Western churches held Easter services on the 4th of April, Orthodox Christians in Slovenia will celebrate Pascha today, along with other members of the Orthodox Christian faith including the Greek, Serbian, and Russian Orthodox churches. The celebrations started on Friday and will conclude today with masses that will mostly be streamed online or over TV due to the coronavirus measures. Patriarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Ljubljana Porfirije Perić took this occasion to remind people to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, especially in these trying times.
Orthodox Christians celebrate Easter later than Catholic Christians, as they still follow the revised Julian or so-called Milanković calendar as opposed to the Gregorian calendar.
