In 1890, Stanko Bloudek, Slovenian designer is born. Bloudek constructed one of the biggest jumping hills in the world in Planica, Slovenia. By designing jumping hills, he proved in theory that ski jumps are possible, contributing to the recognition of the ski-flying discipline.
In 1905 in Maribor the Slovenian writer, director, dramatist and literary historian Bratko Kreft is born.

Leta 1650 je v Stockholmu umrl francoski filozof Rene Descartes.
Leta 1847 se je rodil ameriški izumitelj Thomas Alva Edison, ki je iznašel fonograf, filmski snemalni aparat in žarnico.
Leta 1890 se je rodil Stanko Bloudek. Bil je eden prvih nogometašev v Sloveniji, državni prvak v metanju diska in večkratni prvak Jugoslavije v umetnostnem drsanju. Leta 1910 je naredil jadralno, nato pa enokrilno motorno letalo. Bloudek je v Planici skonstruiral eno največjih smučarskih skakalnic na svetu. Z načrtovanjem letalnic je teoretično dokazoval možnost smučarskih poletov in s tem bistveno prispeval k uveljavitvi poletov kot nove športne tekmovalne discipline.
Leta 1905 se je rodil pisatelj, dramatik in literarni zgodovinar Bratko Kreft.
