It was a historic day for Slovenia's sports stars today, as Tadej Pogačar's victory was made official when he crossed the finish line on the final stage of this year's Tour de France on the Champs Elysees in Paris.

He's the youngest winner of Le Tour for 110 years and has equalled or broken a host of records in the process, including becoming the youngest ever winner of the polkadot jersey for the best climber.

Primož Roglič, who had worn the yellow jersey for 13 days and was the favourite to win, came second overall.

The final sprint and the green jersey were won by Ireland's Sam Bennett.

Slovenia also won two gold medals at the European Canoe and Kayak Slalom Championships in Prague.

Benjamin Savšek retained his Wildwater Canoe Slalom title.

He also joined Luka Božič and Jure Lenarčič to win the team event for the second year in a row.
