The governing coalition has agreed to extend the public debate on the proposed media reform. The time for discussion on the proposed changes would have expired tomorrow, but has now been extended until the end of August. This comes after pressure from opposition parties, the Association of Journalists and the European Broadcasting Union.
The proposed legislative changes would result in budget cuts for RTV Slovenija amounting to EUR 13 million. The head of RTV SLO Igor Kadunc recently said the passing of the changes would mean "the end for RTV Slovenija".
