The National Assembly supported the opposition party Left's proposal to keep stores in Slovenia closed on Sundays even after the end of the epidemic at the first reading.
However, calls were made for social dialogue.
The MPs voted 65:12 for further reading.
Luka Mesec, leader of the Left, said that in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Hungary the consumption hasn't decreased and that people aren't hungry on Sundays amid the stores being closed defending the proposal.
On Monday the government did not support the proposal.
